IU9 Secondary Writing Symposium


Description:
Using the Keystone Assessment Anchors and Eligible Content, English teachers and students will effectively analyze the components of expository and persuasive writing. Teachers and students will create a rubric to assess both types of writing as well as create a sample of each type of writing. The conclusion of the day will provide time for the teacher and student to plan instruction time to share the Keystone Writing Assessment within their building.

8:45-9:00: Registration
9:00-9:15 Introductions, review of the day, bell ringer
9:15-10:15: Writing to Inform (Expository)
10:15-10:30: Break
10:30-11:45: Writing to Persuade (Persuasion)
11:45-12:00: Reflection between student and teacher
12:00-1:00: LUNCH
1:00-1:45: Collaboration and planning time with student and teacher
1:45-2:00: Closing remarks, paperwork
2:00—End of Day
